Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway celebrate two milestones in one

The heritage railway will be doubling-up with a celebration of two important milestones next week.

The celebration taking place over the weekend of Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th of June will mark both 60 years operating as a preserved railway and 120 years since the first train in 1903 for Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway.

Saturday’s festivities will focus on celebrating the railway’s preservation achievements and include the planned return to traffic of locomotive 699.01 ‘Sir Drefaldwyn’ following a substantial overhaul. It’s first passenger run will depart Llanfair at 10.55am on the 17th.
