Sulzer Type 2s in spotlight at Caledonian weekend event

THE Caledonian Railway, running between Brechin and Bridge of Dun, held a diesel weekend on August 17-18. 

All trains were worked by a pair of Sulzer Type 2s – Class 26 No. D5314 and Class 27 No. D5370. Only one was double headed on the Saturday, returning top-and-tailed.

All other trains were headed by one loco or the other.

Class 26 No. D5314 and Class 27 No. D5370 arrive at Brechin on August 17 with the 12.00 from Bridge of Dun, the only train of the day to be double headed. KEITH FENDER

Brakevan rides were available at Bridge of Dun, with Class 08 No. D3059 (08076) and
0-4-0DE No. 211 Rolls (Yorkshire 2628 of 1956).

It should be noted this railway has a good collection of steam and diesel locos, but there is a strict policy of no public admittance to sheds, workshops or yards, not even by prior arrangement, thus restricting viewing of non-running locos.
