Rotterdam tram museum celebrates 30th anniversary

ROTTERDAM tram museum Rotterdamsche Tramweg Maatschappij (RTM) celebrated 30 years at its base at De Punt, on the island of Goeree-Overflakkee, in late May. 

RTM diesel-powered tram MABD No. 1804 ‘Kievit’ (Lapwing) approaching Port Zelande from West Repart on July 4. The tram was built in Germany for the RTM in 1924 by the Hannoverische Waggonfabrik AG as AB 315. It was rebuilt by RTM in 1953 with a Deutz diesel engine, and remained in service until the last lines closed in 1966. PAUL CONLAN

The relocation of the museum site, south-west of Rotterdam, was driven by redevelopment at the old site, but gave RTM the opportunity to lay much more track. They now have 10km of track and plans to extend the line from West Repart, further along the Scharendijke.
