IT WAS a close-run thing, but ‘Jubilee’ 4-6-0 No. 45596 Bahamas made a triumphant return to the main line on February 9.
The immaculate Stanier ‘5XP’ passed a late trial to ensure its new and overhauled equipment was in full working order, and then worked through from Oxenhope on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway (KWVR) to Carlisle via Skipton and Settle.
Stanier ‘Jubilee’ 4-6-0 No. 45596 Bahamas heads south near Armathwaite on the return from Carlisle on February 9. This was its first main line passenger run since 1997. The locomotive’s return proved so popular a repeat performance was necessary a week later. ANDREW DENNISON
The 10-coach train was operated by the KWVR, in association with the Bahamas Locomotive Society and West Coast Railways.
