Brian Davis, of the Hawthorn Leslie 3837 Preservation Society, has contacted the local and railway press in an effort to drum up some support for the former Stewarts & Lloyds Corby Iron & Steel Works loco, progress on which has been a lot slower than expected since it moved from a Leatherhead leisure park to Isfield in March 2011.
The lack of members and active volunteers to work on the 1934-built loco has been cited as the major hurdle to ongoing restoration work, which in turn affects fund-raising activities.
