Benefits of Traveling on the Sapsan Train

There are numerous benefits to using the Sapsan train to travel from Moscow to St. Petersburg.

It’s capable of traveling at a speed of 250kph (155mph) and connects the two main Russian cities in as little as three-and-a-half hours.

Whilst a short, domestic one-hour flight might seem like a more convenient choice from getting to St. Petersburg from Moscow, the Sapsan is “easier” when you take into consideration the out-of-town airport locations, less frequent flight times, flight delays and the hassle of boarding procedures.

In comparison, the two main stations in Moscow and St. Petersburg are located right in the heart of the city, making it easier to get on and off a train.

Also, the Sapsan train runs through other popular Russian towns on the way from Moscow to St. Petersburg including Vladimir, Tver, Nizhny Novgorod and Okulovka.

‘Superb Comfort’

“If you want to travel in comfort and style, these trains are the perfect choice.”

A far cry from previous train journeys, passengers can relax in style and enjoy the smooth, modern experience as they quickly fly between the two cities.

The train caters to the needs of both business and leisure travellers. Unlike airplanes where the best seats are reserved for first class only, everybody can travel in business class style on the Sapsan, with both the first and second-class seats providing passengers with the same experience in terms of comfort.

The economy class is still very luxurious, offering adjustable seats, folding tables, reading lights, electricity sockets, and TVs. The economy car is also equipped for special needs passengers and those traveling with pets.

‘Excellent Service’

Expect an excellent level of service from start to finish, with attentive, courteous and friendly attendants on hand to make sure that passenger journeys are pleasant ones.

Luxury Russian travel has been “redefined” thanks to this train, with cabins that are kept impeccably clean and everything maintained to an extremely high standard.

And unlike flying with an airline, you can simply ask the attendants at any time to access your storage should you need anything from your bag.

Traveling Business Class

Generally, there is one business class car on the Russian high-speed train Sapsan, which carries up to 52 passengers. The seats come in pairs and are equipped with folding tables and extra leg room.

The seats are leather and wide and have everything you’d expect for extra comfort with armrests, reading lights, media and electricity ports. The car comes complete with free Wi-Fi, four TVs, luggage storage, air-conditioning, a bathroom, and a hot meal included in the ticket price.

If you wish to upgrade your ticket, you can choose from the restaurant car, which includes all of the above plus seats opposite one another around tables, or travel in style in the high-comfort Premium class, which offers extra spacious seats and individual TV sets.

If you need to get from Moscow to St. Petersburg quickly, the high-speed Sapsan trains offer a level of comfort and service that is second to none.
