Avanti West Coast has become the latest train operator to trial discounted tickets as the rail sector struggles to bring passenger numbers back to pre-pandemic levels.
Engineers have completed “significant repairs” on a stretch of the main west coast rail line between Scotland and England after damage caused by flooding forced its closure.
