‘Saint’ breaks cover at Didcot

by

NEW-BUILD Churchward ‘Saint’ No. 2999 Lady of Legend made a surprise appearance in the open air on August 7, providing an opportunity to see the new 4-6-0 in near-complete condition.

It had been removed from the workshop to facilitate the boiler lift of ‘8750’ 0-6-0PT No. 3650, but was returned once the pannier was out of the way. Even with a patchwork of paint the ‘Saint’ makes an impressive sight as it nears its long-anticipated first steaming.
