125 Group gets three more coaches while power car remains at Old Oak Common

by

THE 125 Group has bought another three Mk3 coaches, previously owned by DRS and stored at Barrow Hill.

They are TSOs AC2G type, Nos. 12065, 12087 and 12134, and will be based at GCR (Nottingham). Once restored by group volunteers they will join the three coaches – Nos. 11074, 10206 and 12092 – to provide a longer train to be powered by the restored HST prototype power car No. 41001, as well as providing reserve and spare vehicles. This enables the group to expand operations ahead of its goal of preserving a complete Production HST.

Preserved prototype HST power car No. 41001 was displayed in the GWR’s Heavy Maintenance Facility at Old Oak Common (OOC) on September 2, with No. 1 bogie removed. The power car will remain for a while at OOC to allow inspection work by GWR. PETER NICHOLSON

Power car No. 41001 departed from GCR(N) on August 27 behind GWR Class 57 No. 57604
Pendennis Castle, newly repainted in GWR ‘heritage’ green by Loram at Derby.
