Peak Rail announces action-packed Steam Gala for August

PEAK Rail has unveiled the line-up for its 2026 Steam Gala, with five steam locomotives set to star during a packed weekend of heritage railway action on August 8-9.

Taking place at Rowsley South Station in the heart of the Derbyshire countryside, the event promises intensive passenger and freight train services, alongside a host of attractions designed to appeal to railway enthusiasts and families alike.

Visitors will be able to enjoy rides behind an impressive fleet of steam locomotives, including WD152 ‘Rennes’, 750 ‘Waleswood’, S102 ‘Cathryn’, Peckett 2000 and WPR 15 ‘Earl David’.

The gala programme also includes top-and-tailed services, freight trains, turntable demonstrations, brake van rides, footplate visits, yard shunting demonstrations and the opportunity to become a diesel shunter driver for just £5.

Families are well catered for, with accompanied children travelling free, while visitors can also take advantage of free parking and an on-train bar throughout the weekend. Adult and senior advance tickets are priced at £18, rising to £20 on the day.

The Steam Gala will take place at Rowsley South Station, Harrison Way, Derbyshire (DE4 2LF) on Saturday, August 8 and Sunday, August 9.
