Double-deck coaches for long-distance services

RZD has introduced a variety of double-deck coaches and sleeping cars in the last few years as it modernises the stock used on some routes.

One of the latest new RZD double-deck, long-distance coaches outside the Tver carriage works in October 2016. TRANSMASHHOLDING

The new coaches are built by the Tver carriage works north of Moscow and are air conditioned and wi-fi equipped. They operate in 15-coach rakes at up to 160km/h on the Moscow to Voronezh route.

Daytime coaches have interiors designed by Transmash and Italian industrial design company Italdesign Giugiaro.

The double-deck coaches built include restaurant cars and more recently coaches designed for disabled passengers that also have on-board staff accommodation.
