Bishopsgate Tunnel track replaced

ALMOST a mile of track has been replaced in Bishopsgate Tunnel, on the approach to London Liverpool Street, Britain’s third busiest station.

The renewal of more than 1,550 metres of track, sleepers and ballast was carried out over six consecutive weekends, and was complicated by the confined space, limited ventilation, a need to maintain timetabled service during the week, and close proximity to a main sewer.
