Unique multiple unit at East Kent Railway

THE East Kent Railway (EKR) is home to the only Class 457 EMU in preservation, which was in the bay platform at Eythorn on July 14.

DMSO No. 67300 from set No. (45)7001 is owned by the Suburban Electric Railway Association. It has been at the EKR since early-2018 following closure of the Electric Railway Museum at Coventry.

It was acquired for preservation in 2002 with sister No. 67301.

They had become driving motor coaches converted from the Class 210 DEMU prototype, to form a three-phase traction development unit.

No. 67301 also survives, still carrying its original number, although sold for return to main line use.
