THE Branch Line Society’s ‘Greendale Rocket’ tour took a pair of Europhoenix Class 37s over some very rare track on September 10.
Highlight of the trip was a visit to Royal Mail’s Princess Royal Distribution Centre (PRDC) in Willesden, north London. It is thought to be the first passenger train to run into the rail-connected
mail sorting centre.
Europhoenix provided Nos. 37611 Pegasus and 37884, working in top-and-tail formation from Burton-on-Trent to Willesden via Birmingham and the West Coast Main Line.
The BLS’ next outing over unusual lines is the ‘Whitechapel Wayfarer’ on November 19, which will take a pair of Merseyrail Class 507/508 EMUs to all corners of the Merseyside third-rail system.
