by

THE Vale of Berkeley Railway (VofBR) project put on a good display of restored stock at the Gloucestershire Vintage & Country Extravaganza, South Cerney airfield, from August 3-5.

Class 03 No. D2069 was present along with two Wickham rail trollies: Type 27A MkIII No. 7509 of 1956, restored in green, and diminutive 8S-type No. 156W (Wickham 4165 of 1948).

Wickham 4165 156W as displayed at the South Cerney vintage show, Gloucestershire on August 3-5. It shows the fine work undertaken by Vale of Berkeley Railway volunteers. It was ordered from Wickham’s of Ware by the GWR in August 1946 as part of a batch, with delivery to BR in February 1948. ANDREW WOODHALL

The latter, owned by Peter Nicholson, is on long-term loan to the VofBR, and has been undergoing extensive restoration from near scrap condition by volunteers since arrival at Sharpness in February 2017.
