Tornado ‘Aberdonian’ tours confirmed for 2019

PEPPERCORN ‘A1’ No. 60163 Tornado will enter its second decade of main line work with a programme of five tours between Edinburgh and Aberdeen during March and September 2019.

The launch train for the ‘Aberdonian’ will run on March 14, followed by the main series of late-summer trains on August 1, 8, 31 and September 7.

Next year will see new-build ‘A1’ No. 60163 Tornado haul a programme of special trains between Edinburgh and Aberdeen, making sights such as this view of the ‘A1’ crossing the Forth Bridge a regular occurrence. A1 STEAM LOCOMOTIVE TRUST

Trains will depart from Edinburgh Waverley at around 09.30 for Aberdeen, returning by around 20.30, after more than 260 miles of steam haulage and memorable crossings of the Forth and Tay bridges in each direction.

On arrival at Aberdeen, passengers can choose to take one of three optional excursions or explore the city. There will also be an option to alight at Carnoustie, north of Dundee,
to play golf at the town’s world-famous course.
