Six-month closure for Reedham to Yarmouth line

RESIGNALLING work as part of the £68million Wherry Lines upgrade will close the Reedham Junction to Great Yarmouth line for six months from late October.

The route via Berney Arms will close on October 20 and is not expected to reopen until April 2019.

A pair of Greater Anglia Class 153s with No. 153335 at the rear arrives at Reedham with the 08.50 Lowestoft-Norwich on August 18, 2016. The track layout at this location will be altered over the coming months, resulting in the closure of the line to Yarmouth being closed for six months. ROBIN STEWART-SMITH

Norwich to Yarmouth trains will continue to run during this period via the Acle route.

A nine-day blockade of both the Yarmouth and Lowestoft routes runs from October 20-28, but additional work requires the closure of Reedham Junction for much longer.

The junction will be temporarily replaced with plain line prior to the installation of a new track layout this autumn.
