New services from London to Bordeaux ‘in next couple of years’?

UK PRIVATE infrastructure manager High Speed 1 (HS1) is working with Eurotunnel, LISEA and SNCF Réseau to develop ‘ready-to-run’ paths from London to Bordeaux.

Lisea is the French concessionaire for the Tours to Bordeaux high-speed line.

HS1 says it is also developing direct routes to Geneva and Frankfurt from London.

The infrastructure managers are working to offer pre-planned and agreed timetable paths and routes, meaning any new international train operator will be able to get the route up and running in a couple of years.

HS1 says the Bordeaux route is almost ready for a train operator to begin as soon as the UK and French Governments agree on border controls.

“With the right commitment, we could be looking at new services in the next couple of years,” a spokesman said.
