Mayflower and ‘Scotsman’ for nine-day Scottish tour

by

STEAM Dreams has unveiled its programme of tours for the second half of 2018 and given advance notice of three attractive steam-hauled landcruises for 2019.

Highlight of the programme is a nine-day tour of Scotland on May 9-17 employing LNER favourites Nos. 60103 Flying Scotsman and No. 61306 Mayflower.

‘A3’ No. 60103 Flying Scotsman crosses Jamestown Viaduct, climbing towards the Forth Bridge with a Fife Circle tour on May 20. The Gresley Pacific will return to Scotland with Steam Dreams in 2019, hauling sections of a new nine-day landcruise. BARRY MARTIN

The ‘A3’ is booked to handle the first two days, powering from York to Edinburgh and Edinburgh to Inverness via the Highland Main Line, before the ‘B1’ takes over for day trips to Dunrobin Castle and Kyle of Lochalsh.

It then joins forces with ‘Scotsman’ to double-head over the HML to Glasgow, with Mayflower continuing to Fort William. Day 7 will see the ‘B1’ leave the West Highlands and head south via Beattock to Penrith, giving passengers a day in the Lake District, before the final leg back to Euston on Day 9.

Various optional coach trips are also planned, including visits to Skye, Mull or Iona, Loch Ness and the Lake District.
