MORE than 4,500 engineers worked a total in excess of 92,000 hours to deliver one of the most challenging and complex phases of the Thameslink Programme to date.
The work took place between August 26 and September 2.
New track and signalling equipment was installed at London Bridge on the lines serving Cannon Street, and through lines to Charing Cross were moved into their final alignment and connected to the newly completed Bermondsey dive-under.
The latter provides dedicated tracks for trains serving south-east London and Kent and eliminates conflicts with Thameslink and other routes.
Work at London Bridge included installation of lighting, ticket gatelines and flooring in the final section of the new concourse, which will open in January.
