Last battle for ‘Greyhound’

LSWR ‘T9’ 4-4-0 No. 30120 worked its last services at the Battlefield Line on Easter Monday, bringing its extended hire period to a close.

The NRM’s LSWR T9 ‘Greyhound’ 4-4-0 30120 departs from Market Bosworth, Battlefield Line with the 13:45 Shackerstone – Shenton on 15th April 2017. The home bracket signals are currently unconnected, however they should become operational again as the Battlefield Line hope to instal a passing loop at Market Bosworth by the end of 2018.

The National Railway Museum locomotive arrived at Shackerstone at the end of 2016 to help work the railway’s ‘Santa’ trains.

The locomotive is pictured departing from Market Bosworth with the 13.45 Shackerstone-Shenton service on April 15.

This was its penultimate day in traffic before heading to the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre for its May Bank Holiday steam gala.

The home signals to the left of the loco are currently unconnected, but should become operational upon completion of the new passing loop in 2018. GRAHAM NUTTALL
