BRIGHTLINE – the first privately operated inter-city passenger trains in the USA for several decades – started operation on January 13.
The service will initially operate on the 74km section between West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale in Florida, with 10 train pairs daily.
This is the most intensive inter-city service in the USA away from the Boston-New York-Washington route.

Brightline describes itself as ‘a hospitality focused express inter-city passenger rail service’, which will be extended 46km south from Fort Lauderdale to Miami later in 2018.
The service is operated by All Aboard Florida on track owned by freight operator Florida East Coast, using the name Brightline, with brand new Siemens ‘Charger’ locomotives, which run on bio-diesel.
