DMU services operating on Mountsorrel branch

A DMU will be operating on the Mountsorrel branch as part of the GCR’s diesel gala on September 8.

This triangular service runs from Quorn to Nunckley and Mountsorrel stations, then down to Rothley, before returning to Quorn. This is similar to the service run in July.

The Great Central Railway’s Mountsorrel branch only sees limited passenger use, but a DMU service was run on July 21-22. On the Sunday, shortened Class 101 set, comprising Nos. 50266 and 51427, has just arrived with the 13.35 from Quorn. This became the 14.20 departure for Rothley. HASSARD STACPOOLE

It is also planned to run a DMU on the branch over the weekend of October 20-21, which will be a shuttle service starting from Nunckley Hill, stopping at Mountsorrel, before running down to Swithland siding.
