THE Churchward County Trust (CCT) has launched a new targeted appeal to raise £10,000 to cover the cost of machining the frame plates for new-build GWR ‘County’ class 4-4-0 County of Montgomery.
The frame plates were due to be cut by Tata Steel of Wednesfield in late September, having been financed by members of the project’s Founders’ Club.
However, the cost of milling and drilling, which has been quoted at close to £10,000, is additional but necessary if the frames are to be set up correctly and not cause problems in the long run.

To meet the costs the CCT’s 100 Hundreds Appeal is seeking to recruit 100 individuals to each donate £100. In recognition of their support each donor will receive an A4-sized mounted print of County of Montgomery by the artist Jonathan Clay, together with a year’s complimentary membership of the CCT.
Anyone who feels able to support the 100 Hundreds Appeal should send a cheque payable to the ‘Churchward County Trust’ to: Churchward County Trust, PO Box 10633, Leicester LE9 0DU.
