THE Branch Line Society (BLS) and Chiltern Railways ran a special train from Aylesbury on June 10, raising money for The Royal British Legion.
Visiting rare track, including the Calvert waste terminal and the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre at Quainton Road, three-car Class 165 DMU No. 165034 worked ‘The Sopwith Camel’ from Aylesbury to Bicester Village via Calvert and Claydon L&NE Junction, traversing what will soon become part of the East West Railway from Oxford to Cambridge.
The train was billed as the final chance to travel over the route between Claydon L&NE Junction and Gavray Junction in both directions before it closes for East West Rail work on September 1.
