THE Llanelli & Mynydd Mawr Railway (L&MMR) at Cynheidre, South Wales, held a successful event on Bank Holiday Monday, August 27, with more than 200 passengers carried.

In addition, it hosted a visit by the Branch Line Society in the morning, with 136 of the group’s members enjoying a rare double-headed ride covering all available track.

L&MMR’s two resident diesel locos – 4wDH No. 10222 Peter J. Griffiths (Rolls-Royce 10222 of 1965) and Dutch (NS) Class 600 0-6-0DE No. 625 – provided a rare haulage opportunity on August 27, carrying a private party visit in BR Mk2f buffet car No. 3319. DAVID MEE

They arrived at Llanelli on the ‘Marching Crompton’ railtour from Crewe, making the transfer to the L&MMR by road coach, thus becoming the first such large party to visit the new railway.
