Branch Line Society makes return to A V Dawson site

A V Dawson 350hp 0-6-0DE No. 08774 crosses Depot Road in the Teesport area of Middlesbrough on July 21 during a Branch Line Society event at the private freight facility.

Several trips operated during the day, covering all available track.

Passengers rode in a BLS carriage, converted from a former BR ferry van, with industrial No. 01567 top-and-tailing with the ‘08’.

This was the society’s second visit to the A V Dawson site, raising further funds for local charities.September 30 will see the BLS visit Hanson Cement Ribblesdale facility. Four ‘all- available-lines’ tours of the branch railway, lasting 45 minutes each, will run at 10.00, 11.00, 12.00 and 13.00, each limited to 50 participants, using BLS mess van ‘Molly’.

The tours will use a temporary platform, and will cover the entire system to the NR boundary near the Blackburn to Hellifield line, powered by resident GEC 0-6-0DH locos Nos. 5396 and 5401 of 1975. PHOTO: MICHAEL WARRENDER
