Myfanwy undergoes a major transformation

BAGNALL 3211, an 0-4-0DH, is undergoing a major restoration at the Chasewater Railway, where it moved to in May 2016.

The work includes returning the unusual-looking loco to its original appearance.

A new cab has been fabricated, along with new floors and running boards, with other cut-back items receiving attention.

It has had a complete re-wire and new pipework to the control desk installed. Use on Saturday diesel services and gala days is planned, so vacuum brake equipment has been fitted.

Myfanwy was one of three locos built in 1962, along with 3209 and 3210. They were commissioned by W G Bagnall, but constructed by Robert Stephenson & Hawthorns in Darlington (Nos. 8364–8366), and were delivered to Royal Ordnance Factory, Pembrey, South Wales.
