WEST Coast Railways’ LMS rebuilt ‘Royal Scot’ No. 46115 Scots Guardsman reached the end of its boiler ticket in August – a little over nine years after it made its BR green debut at the Carnforth Open Weekend in July 2008.
The final train was West Coast’s ‘Dalesman’ on August 15, taking the ‘Scot’ from Hellifield to Carlisle and back over the line it has made its own during the last decade.
No. 46115’s place in the West Coast ranks will be filled by ‘Merchant Navy’ Pacific No. 35018 British India Line, once the Carnforth set-up is ready to release it into main line traffic.
