FULLY restored ex-Burton and Ashby Light Railway Tram No. 14 made its public debut at SBR’s March 25 open day.
It offered rides over the newly laid railway to Oak Tree on the fields side of the roadway line.
The dedicated shed to house the tram has been completed together with a street-style terminus with waiting shelter.

SBR offered 450 ‘first come, first served’ tickets for a £10 additional charge, all proceeds being donated to the fund set up for the family of PC Keith Palmer, the policeman murdered during the March 22 Westminster terror attack.
Tram No. 14 is the last surviving vehicle from the 3ft 6in-gauge Burton and Ashby Light Railway and dates from 1906. Following shipment to USA it was re-gauged to 3ft for operation on a heritage line in Detroit.
In 2015 it was secured by the SBR at an auction of surplus Detroit city assets and repatriated (RM April 2015).
