The Great Central Railway Model Event 2020 is cancelled

The Great Central Railway Model Event will not be going ahead this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.

The latest update from The Great Central Railway said: “It is with great regret we have decided to cancel the 2020 Great Central Railway Model Event to be held from Friday 19th to Sunday 21st June.

“Due to the nature of this event, we feel we have a responsibility to act in the best interest of our visitors, exhibitors, traders and staff with the predicted peak of the virus being towards the end of May.

“The event is mainly held in two large enclosed marquees at our Quorn and Woodhouse Station where there is the possibility of over 2000 people being in close confinement on a daily basis.

“We have taken this decision early as many of our visitors, traders and exhibitors travel long distances to attend.

“We apologise to all involved, especially to the staff and volunteers who have been working on this event since last year.

“Currently, all other events are taking place as advertised. Any further announcements, concerning up and coming events will be made on www.gcrailway.co.uk web site and on social media.”
