THE bitter dispute between Southern and the RMT over the role of conductors becoming on-board supervisors and door closing transferring to the driver has still not found a solution.
The row has dragged on and even though the union has told staff to accept the new contracts being offered strikes are continuing.
Southern had given the union an eight-point offer that included a £2,000 bonus and job guarantee until 2021 with no redundancies, provided acceptance of the offer was reached by midday on
October 6.

With no response from the union, the offer was withdrawn and reinstated a week later.
During that week, Charles Horton, CEO of parent company Govia Thameslink Railway and RMT union leader Mick Cash met face-to-face in a bid to find a solution.
