Time to retire Flying Scotsman? What a load of old nonsense!

I READ the letter from Malcolm Storey (Sep) regarding the cost of repairs to the LNER A3 Pacific Flying Scotsman. He suggested it was time to retire her.

What a waste – all that money already spent. No, let’s see her running again.

If I were a millionaire lottery winner, I would gladly stump up the money for this magnificent locomotive, but sadly I am not.

DENNIS DAY,
West Sussex.

We have received a number of letters in support of Flying Scotsman’s continued restoration and only one other suggesting the icon should be put out to grass. Keep your views coming! – Ed.

While I understand people who don't want historic locos to run again, I paid some of my hard earnt cass to the NRM to fun Flying Scotsman. I therefore tinkt it insulting that anyone should suggest that be wasted. This is especially so if the people suggesting this did not put their hand in their pockets. Alan

Frankly I agree with Malcolm , there can only be so much money in the pot , so equal consideration must be given to all projects . John (Fife)
