Flying Scotsman retired? Never!
By: Web Editor
IT was with some shock I read in the letters page a call for Flying Scotsman to be retired due to its cost.
All steam engines cost money to run and maintain and it is fortunate that we have people who are prepared to cover the cost personally or through massive fundraising efforts.
If it was financially possible I would like to see the Green Arrow and Mallard in steam too. As an LNER supporter through family connections and my area of birth, I will champion LNER engines wherever possible.
