By: Chris Milner
The UK’s best performing rail freight operator to open its depot doors to enthusiasts and public.
DIRECT Rail Services has confirmed to The Railway Magazine that it will be holding a charity open day.
The event will be at the company's Gresty Bridge, Crewe, depot on July 19 and follow the format of the 2008 event, with a range of Class 20, 37, 47, 57 and 66 locos on display outside or inside the maintenance depot. It is also likely there will be a naming ceremony.
A DRS spokesman said that an announcement would be made shortly on whether it will tickets via postal application or admission on the gate.
Proceeds from the event will be distributed to charities. Further information is expected by the end of April.
