The London-based company has previously designed Stratford station and the major infrastructure of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (HS1).

A total of 72 expressions of interest were received to create a fully integrated station and museum in this joint partnership project between the GCR, Leicester City Council and the National Railway Museum.

This was whittled down to a shortlist of six designs in early October, with Wilkinson Eyre emerging as the winner after an extensive consultation with both the public and major stakeholders.
