Crews proud of Yugo/Irish GMs

I WAS very interested in Gary Boyd-Hope’s article on the IE 071 class locos. Very well written and a mine of information.

The Yugoslavian railway locos (Jugoslavenske Željeznice), now running in Serbia, mentioned on page 34, were indeed used regularly in the early years of the 21st century.

Many years ago, the ‘Stamboul Express’, run by the tour company Along Different Lines (ADL), used these locos and I have attached a photo of the loco used on our tour.

The locos are indeed almost identical to the 071 class and certainly sounded very similar.

The crews were quite proud of the loco on our train, which was well presented for us.
